Removing Barriers
Preparing for adulthood comes with real challenges. Sometimes a young man needs basic personal-care essentials. Other times, a practical need stands between him and an opportunity.
The Standard Institute helps young men ages 13–21 overcome these barriers through accessible resources and targeted assistance.

SURS | Show Up Ready Shelf
Sometimes showing up ready starts with having the basics.
SURS keeps personal-care essentials readily available to young men ages 13–21 at the TSI Center. Young men can take what they need without having to make a request or provide an explanation.
Access to SURS does not require participation in the TSI Mentorship Program or use of the Miami Love Workforce Lab.
Keep SURS Stocked
Our community helps keep SURS stocked by purchasing needed personal-care items directly from our Amazon Wishlist.
When supplies run low, we'll update these lists so supporters can see what's needed and help us restock.

Project Remove the Barrier
The young man is taking the step. You can help remove the barrier.
Sometimes, something as simple as a haircut, appropriate clothing, shoes, or transportation can stand between a young man and an opportunity.
Project Remove the Barrier provides practical assistance to young men ages 13–21 who need support taking the next step toward employment, education, or training.
Assistance is based on individual needs and available resources.
To learn more about available assistance, contact The Standard Institute at info@thestandardinstitute.org

Help Remove a Barrier
An interview outfit. A haircut. A ride to where he needs to be.
These may seem like small things, but when a young man is working toward an opportunity, they can make the difference between being ready to take the next step and having to let the opportunity pass.
Project Remove the Barrier exists to help make sure those practical needs do not become unnecessary roadblocks.
